Confessional Reformed perspectives on things human and divine…
Thanks for tuning in — our overarching goal here is to promote and explore the confessional Reformed faith in all its richness, because we feel it most faithfully encapsulates the Spirit-inspired histories and teachings of the Bible, centering on Christ, “the whole counsel of God for our salvation” (Acts 20:27).
I’m a 28-year-old student at the University of Aberdeen; Lord willing, I’ll be here in Scotland three years or so getting my PhD in Systematic Theology. I graduated from Westminster Seminary California, studying Historical Theology, mainly Post-Reformation Reformed Orthodoxy. I’m a member of the PCA. I’ve been married for 6 years to my lovely wife Kate, and we have a beautiful 2-year-old daughter, Lily, and baby boy, Callum. When I’m not busy reading, writing, studying, and helping Kate take care of the kids, I like to spend time with my wife and kids, read, write, and study. Enjoy Creed or Chaos!
Joshua (:OR:)
A 29-year-old graduate of Westminster Seminary California (MAHT), I am preparing for the GRE and planning to earn my PhD in modern European history. I wrote my MA thesis on Friedrich Schleiermacher and Lutheran Orthodoxy. I enjoy reading, studying, and writing about history, literature, philosophy, languages (both ancient and modern), and, of course, theology—particularly Reformed theology. Most often my time is spent doing the aforementioned activities, as well as hanging out with my family—Erin (wife), Jackson, and Ella. Additionally, I am a foster parent to six teenage boys. We love to go to movie theaters, malls, museums, skate parks, parks, theme parks, the beach, and downtown San Diego. In the rare occasion I am not surrounded by people or books, I like to be alone feeling the wind beat against my body as I weave through the windy roads of Escondido on my wanna-be Harley (Honda Shadow Spirit 750).
I’m 44. I’ve been married for a year and a half to my lovely wife Alisia and have become the proud step-father of 3 and a half yr. old Isabelle. We’ve been blessed recently with another beautiful little girl, Evangeline. My four years at Westminster Seminary California were the most transforming years of my life. I know the Lord is working all over the place but I have to insist that if any of you bright stars are considering pursuing the ministry of word and sacrament then you would do very well to begin at WSC. Unlike many faculties that are so divided theologically the professors here are united in their commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In my humble opinion, the community of believers made up of the many nearby churches, which are influenced by the seminary, make San Diego the brightest place on earth. We’re currently living in Springfield, MO, and looking forward to what the Lord has in store for our family next.

Nice new site guys;…………..looking forward to more

Glad you guys are back…and LOOKING GOOD (especially you, Brannan)!
Love, Mom
Looking good. But don’t let that stop you from posting more!
I’m enjoying all the updates, nice site!
I just ran across your site. Haven’t had a chance to dig in much yet, but I am looking forward to doing so. Did any of you happen to go to T4G (Together For The Gospel)?
Adam~
Welcome! No, not me–where was it? If it something’s not in Northeast Scotland, I’m probably going to miss it.

hey Adam,
nice website. so what is T4G all about?
Well, T4G it is in Louisville, Kentucky, so yeah I can see why you wouldn’t go, haha. It is for anybody, but mostly young pastors and students. They have a conference every other year (had one in ‘06, and now in ‘08); I haven’t had a chance to go yet, but I am definitely looking forward to the next one.
Their website is http://www.t4g.org. You should check that out, also they have downloadable messages from the conferences. Some of my friends went this year and they said it was awesome!

Hi guys
I fell accross your site while looking for some wisdom on the unity of the trinity. I read your thoughts on this topic and was blown away with the wisdom. I live in Australia and am going to be undertaking theological studies next year and am chomping at the bit to get started. Just wanted to encourage you with your journey. Keep up the word for the kingdom. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Blessings, Matt
Matt~
Really glad to hear it. I’m actually doing my PhD on trinitarian formulation, and a lot of it look at the relationship between the way we think and speak of God’s oneness and threeness.
Keep in touch,
~B
Matt: Brannan’s the guy you want to talk to. Very thorough and precise. Not to mention zealouse for the 3 in 1. Also, you can learn a lot from Mark Jones on Thomasgoodwin.wordpress.com. Also, our WSC professor Dr. R. Scott Clark has written on this subject. I just saw a related article by him somewhere and I can’t remember where. I’d look but I’m eating breakfast with my wife. Check the Heidelblog or Wscal.edu.
Study hard brother Matt. And if you can at all swing it, get your aussie butt over to Westminster Cali as soon as possible. You won’t be sorry.
Please i am a student of Theology at african Bible University in Uganda. And i am puzzled with the question(What’s the importance of the Trinity?). I need you to assist me and give me the clear view and approach about it.
I will be very grateful for your assistance.
Patrick.
Mukisa Patrick,
The answer to your question is intricate and involved. To give you a very basic answer, I would say that without the Trinity you do not have biblical Christianity. The best and most accessible book on the subject that I have come across is “The Holy Trinity” by Robert Letham.
