Church Planting in Berlin: Matt interviews David and Eowyn Stoddard

2 July, 2007

MattMatt interviews the Stoddard’s, PCA church planting missionaries, on church planting in former-Soviet East Berlin, and the peculiar challenges of ministering the gospel in a predominantly atheistic society. The work of the Lord in such a place isn’t flashy or immediate, but a steady faithfulness to the great commission in the service of Word and sacrament.

I should also mention that David has become quite an accomplished surfer in a very short time. So if he brings surfing to E. Berlin…well, actually that might be a confusion of the 2 Kingdoms…way to much transformationalism going on.

Thank you thank you for this interview w/ the Stoddards. It was such a blessing and encouragement to hear from them – we are preparing to attempt the same thing with the same ideas (in Finland rather than Germany) as they are. I love that they too think ‘church’ should incorporate the whole age spectrum of a locality. Thanks guys for this.

When is the interview w/ Sebastian Heck coming, to keep with the missions in Europe theme?

Sorry to respond so late Matt. I’ve been busy with an internship and Brannan (creed) is on his way to Aberdeen. So the wheels at creedorchaos are turning a little slow for week or so more. Perhaps you could send us more information or link us to your website? We would love to know more. Thanks for the comment.
