Featured Audio: Inglorious Grumblers (Deut 1:26-46), by Dominic Smart

20 January, 2010

Along similar lines to my post on Deuteronomy below — but accomplished much better — is this sermon by Dominic Dominic picSmart, “Inglorious Grumblers.” Particularly invaluable is the way he lays out how to read Deuteronomy, and all the rest of the Law and the Prophets, in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I really appreciated the way Dominic Smart handled the theme of the book, incorporating it into the text in terms of Israel’s rebellion. I also appreciated that he did not neglect the New Covenant promise/aspect fulfilled in the True Israel, who in these last days pours out His Spirit to teach us to better obey, as the gospel preached rightly is the instrumentality to apprehend the reality of the grace of God in Christ now fully come and to live in the fullness of that reality each day. The only way.
